## Fair and inclusive fashion since 2017

Dariadéh was founded in 2017 by Madeleine Alizadeh, known online as DariaDaria. The Austrian fashion brand stands for fair, inclusive fashion and a more conscious relationship with clothing.

That standard should not end at the purchase. Returns need to be easy for customers, transparent for the team, and fast enough to get products back into sale while they still matter.

Sarah Grumeth has been part of the leadership team since 2022, with a focus on finance and logistics. She supported both the onboarding with FineCom and the introduction of 8returns, giving her a clear view of the process from digital return registration to warehouse handling.

## The challenge: A returns process with too many gaps

Before 8returns, Dariadéh already used a returns portal. Customers could register a return and select a return reason, but the process was not connected end to end.

Customers could not create a return label directly in the portal and had to organize the shipment themselves. At the same time, there was no clean connection between the returns portal, Shopify, and the previous logistics provider.

That created extra work internally. Some returns had to be completed manually in the portal. Stock movements were not always traceable, and incoming returns could not always be matched reliably to the original Shopify order.

"The process simply was not clean," Sarah says.

In some cases, the missing traceability led to stock inaccuracies and more work for the support team. Dariadéh also lacked important revenue retention options. The previous portal offered neither direct exchanges nor the option to issue a refund as store credit.

## The solution: Digital control meets physical recovery

For Dariadéh, the goal was not to improve a few isolated steps. The team needed a returns process that worked better for customers and gave the business reliable visibility internally.

During the move to FineCom, Dariadéh discovered 8returns. What mattered was that 8returns, as a specialist returns platform, could connect the digital customer journey, label creation, return status, and reporting with Shopify and FineCom.

Today, customers can register their return digitally and receive the right return label directly. Tracking is available at any time, and Dariadéh can follow the return from the portal through to processing. Exchange and store-credit options also help the team keep revenue in the business instead of defaulting to refunds.

The internal process is more transparent, too. Dariadéh can see when a return was registered, whether it has arrived, whether it was inspected, and what condition the item was in. Quality management also documents whether preparation work is needed before the item can be sold again.

That is where FineCom comes in. Once products arrive, FineCom inspects them and prepares them for resale when needed. That includes stain removal and smaller textile repairs. Because 8returns provides a clear return avis, FineCom can assign and book incoming returns directly.

As a result, returned items are now resaleable at least twice as fast as in the previous setup.

That matters for Dariadéh. Some products are made from high-quality but crease-prone material, including so-called vegan silk. Professional preparation helps these items return to sale in a condition that matches the brand's quality standards.

Sarah estimates that around 98% of returned items can be brought back into resaleable stock.

## A fast switch with a complex starting point

The move had to happen quickly because Dariadéh wanted to make the existing process more stable and transparent in a short time.

According to Sarah, only around five weeks passed between the decision to work with FineCom and go-live. During that period, the team handled the goods transfer, technical setup, and the switch to the new returns portal.

The 8returns integration was straightforward from her perspective. A contact person was available during setup, and the connection with FineCom and DHL was implemented quickly.

"It can feel like a lot at the beginning, but once you have set it up, it moves really quickly," Sarah says.

## The results: Fewer questions, more revenue retained, better decisions

Since the switch, the individual steps in the returns process work together much more cleanly.

The impact is especially visible in Customer Service. According to Sarah, questions about return status have fallen to a single-digit percentage range and are now almost negligible. Customers receive their label directly through the portal, can access tracking at any time, and the return can be matched to the original order much faster.

Exchanges alone helped Dariadéh retain more than 10% of revenue that would otherwise have been refunded. In total, around 20% of return value stays in the business through retention options such as exchanges and store credit. The team also plans to evaluate further revenue retention options such as Shop Now.

- Support questions reduced to a single-digit percentage range
- Transparent process between 8returns, Shopify, and FineCom
- More reliable stock and better traceability
- Exchange and store credit for revenue retention
- Professional preparation of returned items
- Around 98% of returned items can be brought back into resaleable stock
- Returned items are resaleable at least twice as fast
- Better data for purchasing and product development

## Return data becomes product data

For Sarah, another benefit matters just as much: the data.

Dariadéh exports return data from 8returns and combines it with order data from Shopify. That means return reasons are not only used for operations. They feed directly into purchasing and product development.

One example is color. In the analysis, Dariadéh found that light-colored bottoms were returned more often than darker versions. One possible reason is the perceived transparency of the material. The team now factors that insight into purchasing decisions.

Sizing follows the same logic. If reasons such as "too large" or "too small" appear repeatedly for specific products, the team can use that information in product development.

## Conclusion

With 8returns and FineCom, Dariadéh built a returns process that guides customers through the return more easily, gives the team more transparency, and makes returned items resaleable at least twice as fast. 8returns provides the digital control layer and data foundation. FineCom inspects and physically prepares the goods.

"A solid data foundation, accurate stock management, and reliable service are essential for me."
